THE DIFFICULTY OF SQUEEZING MAAVU INTO HOT OIL, WITH STEAM BURNING YOUR HANDS, WITH THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE BEING WASTING THE DOUGH STUCK IN THE KUZHAL- MY VERSION OF A CORE MEMORY. THIS GENRE OF FOOD ALWAYS REMINDS ME OF OUR DIWALI PREP DAYS, AND HOW WE GOT TO SPEND MULTIPLE HOURS TOGETHER STEALING BITES OF EVERY SINGLE THING WE FRIED (FOR QUALITY CONTROL PURPOSES).
